For dinner, enjoy a special course at Restaurant Cathedréclat, set within a space that served as a chapel for more than 120 years.
Served on Mikawachi porcelain, the menu features a recreated dish inspired by historical records and paired with premium sake from Senryu Shuzo.
The journey continues with a visit to a Mikawachi Ware kiln, where a workshop tour and porcelain painting experience reveal the artistry and beauty of white porcelain.

Founded in 1688, Senryu Shuzo is a historic sake brewery with more than three centuries of brewing tradition. Established under the patronage of the Hirado Domain, its sake was highly regarded as an offering to feudal lords and has been passed down alongside the region’s cultural heritage. The brewery grounds are home to several historically significant buildings, including the former Honjin residence, where domain lords once stayed during their sankin-kotai journeys, and the Moto-gura brewery, which preserves the appearance of the brewery’s early years. Surrounded by this rich history, Senryu Shuzo continues to craft sake using pure water and time-honored techniques, producing elegant and well-balanced flavors with remarkable depth and character.

Hirado Kosho Danemon Kiln is a distinguished pottery studio that has preserved the traditions of Mikawachi Ware for 18 generations. Renowned for its translucent white porcelain and delicate blue-and-white decoration, the kiln continues to uphold highly refined techniques, including the celebrated Hirado Chrysanthemum Petal Work, in which each porcelain petal is meticulously crafted by hand. The extraordinary precision and elegance of these creations are regarded as one of the defining artistic achievements of Mikawachi Ware. While honoring the graceful designs of earlier eras, the kiln continues to pursue craftsmanship that harmonizes tradition with contemporary sensibilities, bringing timeless beauty into the present day.

Hirado Shozan Kiln is a distinguished pottery studio that carries forward the traditions of Mikawachi Ware established during the Edo period. Preserving the techniques of white porcelain and blue-and-white decoration that flourished under the patronage of the Hirado Domain, the kiln continues to celebrate traditional motifs such as Karako-e (playful Chinese children) and Shonzui patterns while sharing their enduring beauty with contemporary audiences. The delicate paintings adorning its translucent white porcelain are among the defining expressions of Mikawachi Ware’s elegance. Through craftsmanship that balances tradition and innovation, Hirado Shozan Kiln continues to convey an aesthetic sensibility that has been passed down through generations.
